Daniel Moinel was the son of Charles MOINEL, a pupil of the violin maker Emile GERMAIN (see WP48). He began his apprenticeship in Mirecourt in the Louis CHERPITEL atelier. He then worked with his father in Paris and eventually set up his own premises in Paris in 1934. This is a fine example of his workmanship, very much in the Italian style. With a one piece back of bold figure, 357 mm. in length, a front of mature spruce and finished in warm brown varnish over a golden ground. Setup with rosewood fittings, Larsen Virtuoso strings and supplied in a new case. A delightful violin to play, with a classical tone of good timbre and clarity. Recommended!
