A fine quality silver mounted pernambuco bow by Joseph Voirin, made around 1860. The bow is signed J.H Voirin A Paris on the stick underneath the lapping. This is a beautiful bow in near perfect condition with just the very smallest of blemishes. A rare example of this makers work in that the profile of the stick is between round and a soft triangular shape and is quite light in weight but with perfect balance! The bow is original in all of its principle parts as stated in the Raffin certificate. Joseph was working in Paris from 1855 and eventually set up his own atelier in the Rue Sainte-Marguerite where he employed the young Alfred Lamy. Joseph Voirin died in 1895 aged 50 yrs. A rare collector or players bow!
