A very nice instrument from a Paris luthier. Auguste Delivet studied with some of the great makers, Rombaux and Chardin, he then spent five years in the atelier of Silvestre in Paris before opening his own workshops in the rue de Paradis, Paris in 1892. He won numerous gold medals for his violins and continued to work until his death in 1928. This fine example of his work was made in 1905 in his Paris atelier. Condition is extremely good, just the smallest of blemishes. With a two piece back 359 mm in length and a close grain front in spruce. Finished in an orange/brown oil varnish of good lustre, setup with Larsen Virtuoso strings and supplied in a new lightweight case. A fine instrument with a rich classy tone of depth and sweetness. Highly recommended!
