William Henley's Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers
states the following about the maker.
Collenot Louis. Born in 1863.
Initially worked with Caussin and Derazey at Mirecourt from 1876 until 1889. Established at Rheims in 1897. Maker to the Conservatoire. Moved to Paris in 1917 where he was assisted by his son, he died in 1933.

A very pretty little violin that produces a nice sound. No damage or repairs other than very minor varnish marks. The back length is: 14.1/16 inches, (35.7 cm).The instrument is a Strad. copy and also carries a "choisi par Bernardel" label (literally means chosen by Bernardel) The fittings are in rosewood,set up with Dominant strings and supplied in a new lightweight case. An easy to play violin with a lovely balanced lyrical tone. Recommended!
