also branded below the button Gustave Villaume A NANCY
A fine quality Gustave Villaume violin. In excellent condition without damage or repairs apart from some patches of varnish wear and some varnish re-touching. A beautifully made violin with good attention to details, a fine carved scroll, symmetrical button and graceful F holes. The back length is 14.1/16 inches, (35.7cm.) Set up with quality rosewood fittings, Evah Pirazzi strings and supplied in a new lightweight oblong case. I would describe this as a violin with a "golden" tone, it has a lovely sonorous bass and sweet treble. A good purchase for both collectors and players, violins of this quality are rising in price rapidly. Highly recommended!
