A fine and beautiful violin by a very good maker, Paul Hilaire, son of Camille Hilaire was born at Mirecourt in 1906. He was assistant to George Apparut before establishing his own workshops. He continued making fine violins until quite late in his life, his violins are based on either the Strad or the Guarneri models. This example is a Guarneri model. The condition is almost mint, just the very smallest of blemishes. The back length is 13.15/16 inches (35.4cm.), Set up with rosewood and ebony fittings of which the pegs are original, Evah Pirazzi strings and supplied in a new oblong case. This violin has a lovely rich and balanced tone, a fine violin, well worth considering! A lovely instrument for collector and player!
