William Henley's Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers
states the following about the maker.
DEBLAYE, ALBERT JOSEPH. Born 1874 died 1929.
Worked at several Parisien ateliers and at Toulouse with Gautier, 1897-1900. Established at Mirecourt, 1900. Became technical director of the Deblaye and Meunier Amalgamation 1922. Workmanship of irreproachable finish. Designs immaculate in beauty of curvature. Harmonical perfection attained in the attuning of the plates, and by an ingenious arrangement of the bass-bar. Tonal quality of excellent homogenial sonority and brilliancy, well-appreciated by many of the French symphony orchestra players. Woods especially chosen for acoustical properties as well as for prettiness. Produced violas of similar qualifications.

Méditation de Thais.

A good French Amati copy from the Mirecourt region , made around 1925, labelled as an Amati and with another label on the treble side "Lutherie Artistique". The back length is: 14.1/16 inches long (35.7 cm.) Condition is good, no damage or repairs, just minor varnish blemishes. Set up with very nice quality rosewood fittings, Pro-Arte strings and supplied in a new lightweight case. A violin with a clear balanced tone, good bass sound and an overall clarity. A nice instrument at an affordable price!
