| A beautiful instrument from a sought after maker,
Emile Mennesson won many gold medals and diplomas. Emile Mennesson ran his workshops from 1876 until 1881 after which time the business was taken over by his son Jean and eventually grandson Raymond. The instrument has a one piece back, the length is: 14.1/16 inches (35.7cm.). The condition
of this instrument is excellent considering that it is more than 130 years old, there are no repairs, just some wear and marks to the varnish and a little bit of repair work to the front curve of the scroll. Violins by this maker have this lovely lustrous orange/red oil varnish. Set up with quality rosewood and ebony fittings, Larson strings, and the violin is supplied in a new case. This violin is a pleasure to play,
it has a full, rounded vibrant tone, responsive and capable of a full range of expression. A fine instrument, in a different class to most! |
