states the following about the maker.
Amédée Dieudonne. Born 1890.
Pupil of Gustave Bazin. Worked for Darche at Brussels. Established at Mirecourt 1924. Splendid hand-made replicas of ancient violins, faithfully depicting all familiar elements; rich and shiny reddish/yellow or bright red varnish.

A fine quality violin by Jean Larcher, dated 1927. £1,850.00 stock no. WP17
Sarabande in G minor by K.Bohm.
The violin labelled:
LUTHERIE D'ART
Jean LARCHER, Maitre - Luthier
ingenieur des Arts et METIERS
No. ordre 235 Année 1927

Quite a rare violin, Jean Larcher was born in 1901, he worked in Mirecourt and was trained by Collin-Mezin. His violins are based on the old Italian masters but with his own arching. The quality of the workmanship is excellent. Fitted with a two piece back: 14 inches (35.6cm.). Condition is superb, there are no repairs just extremely minor varnish marks. Setup with ebony and rosewood fittings, Dominant strings and supplied in a new lightweight case. With a warm round sound, lyrical treble and a quick response. A really nice violin, recommended!
