William Henley's Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers
states the following about the maker.
Mermillot, Maurice.
was born in 1835 and started his violin making as a pupil of Gaillard and the famous J.B.Vuillaume. He then spent time as a soldier in Piedmont, Italy and while there worked for one of the Guadagnini family in Turin. He established his own workshop in Paris in 1876 and died in Mirecourt in 1901.
