A fine quality violin by Léonidas Nadegini an accomplished maker, this example of his work is in beautiful condition and has a lovely warm, rich patina to the varnish. The one piece back measures 14 inches (35.5cm.). The fittings are in rosewood, new Obligato strings are fitted and the violin is supplied in a new lightweight oblong case. William Henley's "Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers" gives a description of the tone of a Nadegini that matches this instrument quite well. He describes the tone as having "brisk and strong sonority, prodigiously easy emission and rare homogeneity of the four strings". It is certainly a powerful violin with a strong treble and deep sonorous bass. An excellent violin for player and collector!
