Violin by Paul Didier, dated 1938.

William Henley's Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers states the following about the maker.

DIDIER, PAUL. Born 1908. Son and pupil of Marius Didier. Worked in Metz 1936. Won several gold medals at Paris and Toulouse. Reproductions of old Italian types. Splendid workmanship. Orange or shaded reddish brown varnish, masterly applied.

7/8 size violin from the Dolling workshops, circa 1925.

A beautiful 7/8 size violin from the Dolling workshops. In good clean condition, well made and from selected highly figured timbers. Note the excellent carving of button and F holes, and the fine narrow corners.
A J.T.L. violin branded Nicolas Duchéne, circa 1890.

An excellent quality late 19th. century instrument from the Jerome Thibouville-Lamy workshops.
Violin by Aubry Dugarde, dated 1929.

The Dugarde workshops made a number of commercial instruments, always of good quality and with a tone to match.
Violin by William Duncan, dated 1927.

A scottish violin with lots of character. Very little is known about this maker, although he is mentioned in Plowrights Dictionary of British Violin and Bow Makers.
Fine quality violin from the Fichtl school, circa 1880.

An excellent violin, beautifully made from select materials. This Fichtl school violin, although by an unknown hand is a first class instrument. The quality of the carving both in the scroll and the sound holes attest to an accomplished maker.
Fleury

Good quality Guarnerius copy, circa 1900.

A well made French Guarnerius copy. A good choice of timbers and a warm plum red coloured varnish, complemented by a rich and full tone make this a desirable instrument.
Fricot

Good French violin by Robert Fritsch, circa 1925.

An excellent violin, well made from good materials by an accomplished Parisian luthier.
Violin labelled Giovani Gaida, dated 1903.

An excellent hand made instrument finished in a warm amber/brown varnish.
Violin by Charles Gaillard, dated 1868.

Not a pretty violin but one with lots of character together with a lovely patina to the varnish.
Violin by Guiseppe Gandolfi, circa 1928.

Guiseppe Gandolfi was an Italian maker working in Cremona but in the French style.
Violin labelled Michel-Ange Garini, circa 1900.

These instruments are from the Vosges region of France.
Gaudu

Fine quality violin by W.Geary, dated 1924.

William Henley's Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers states the following about the maker.

Geary, William George. Born in Hackney, London. Fashioning his violins mostly on Stradivarus and Guarnerius models, he was noted for well cut and graceful sound holes, for decidely bold scrolls which were striking, symmetrical and well finished. Wood of excellent quality and figure. Purfling neatly, firmly and evenly laid. Details of interior workmanship perfectly accurate. He attained a high degree of excellence in bow making with strength of spring, balance of taper and general finish. His use of golden-brown oil varnish shows splendid ideas in application.
