A fine silver mounted pernambuco bow by Théophile Auguste Barbé,  made for and stamped on the stick below the frog H.C.Sylvestre a Paris. A lovely bow in near perfect condition with an ideal weight and balance. Auguste worked for 10 years as a bow maker for the firm of Gand & Bernardel, finally setting up his own atelier in Mirecourt from around 1890. Barbé continued to send most of his work to Paris. He was very influenced by the style of F.N.Voirin which has led to his bows sometimes being attributed to F.N.Voirin rather than Barbé himself. A beautiful collector and players bow!
