A superb silver mounted pernambuco bow made by Joseph Alfred Lamy Père, signed on the stick A Lamy a Paris. Not a perfect specimen, some blemishes but a beautiful strong dark chocolate stick that draws a rich pure sound. The silver button is from a later period but in the same style as the Lamy one piece buttons. Joseph Alfred is is one of the most sought after makers of this period. He started his apprenticeship in 1862 at the age of twelve with Claude Husson also a fine archetier and then went on to work with F.N.Voirin for nine years before he established his own premises. this example of his work was made around 1900.
