A very nice instrument from a Paris luthier. Auguste Delivet studied with some of the great makers, Rombaux and Chardin, he then spent five years in the atelier of Silvestre in Paris before opening his own workshops in the rue de Paradis, Paris in 1892. He won numerous gold medals for his violins and continued to work until his death in 1928. This example of his work is in very good condition, just minor blemishes and an ancient repaired grain crack on the lower right bout, note the superb quality of the scroll and button. The back measurement is: 14.1/16 inches (35.7 cm.) Set up with Obligato strings quality rosewood fittings and supplied in a new case. It is a delight to play, it has a beautiful haunting tone with a strong bass and is well balanced. Very fine workmanship and a pleasure to play, highly recommended!
