A fine quality violin by Léon Jules Lamy, he was one of the great Lamy family and brother of the famous Joseph Lamy the bow maker. He was born in February 1853, studied under Charotte, became part of the J.Thibouville Lamy firm and eventually settled in Paris where he produced his finest work. This example is in very nice condition, without damage, just a few small marks in the centre of the belly. The violin has a one piece back, the length is: 358 mm. Signed and dated inside on the upper back, setup with ebony fittings Larsen Virtuoso strings and supplied in a new case. This instrument has a fine vibrant tone, clean and well balanced, a very nice violin!
