A quality instrument from the atelier of Jules Lavest who worked in Allier, France from 1928. The instrument is a Guadagnini copy, it is well made and has fine workmanship. Jules Lavest produced a catalogue in 1932 listing the different grades of instruments he offered, this model was one of his four top of the range violins aimed at concert artists. The condition is very good, no damage or repairs just some varnish marks and imperfections.. The back measures 14.1/8 inches, 358 mm. With the original gold tipped pegs and an ebony tailpiece and chinrest. Set up with Dominant strings and supplied in a new lightweight case. A beautiful sonorous toned violin that is lovely to play with a sweet treble and warm bass. A very good instrument of nice quality!
