An interesting violin made by Adolpe Dupary, he was born in Mirecourt in 1870 and learned his trade in the atelier of Auguste Darte which is when he made this violin around 1890. Most of the violins by this maker have a plum colour varnish, this instrument has lost almost all of that colour and has reverted back to the honey colour ground coat. This violin is a rare instrument with a lot of character, not perfect, it has some insignificant blemishes but nothing structural. The back is in one piece with good diagonal flame, length 14.1/16 inches, 356 mm. The instrument has the makers signature inside on the table. What is does have is a splendid sound, rich and with lots of colour and a lovely deep bass. Excellent value and a lovely tone!
