A superb instrument made by Charles Georges Brugère. Born in Mirecourt in 1865 he served his apprenticeship with Etienne Drouin and worked for many of the other grand masters of the period including Paul Blanchard in 1881. He established his own workshop in 1895 and continued to make fine violins until his death in 1930. This lovely example of his work is without damage or repairs, just some small varnish marks and wear, finished in a rich red/brown varnish of good patina, branded and signed inside on the back and front in several places. The back is two piece, length is: 356 mm. set up with ebony fittings, Obligato strings and supplied in a new lightweight case. This violin has a beautiful haunting classical tone capable of great expression.
