William Henley's Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers
states the following about the maker.
Perrard Eugene. Born Mirecourt 1895.
Apprenticed with Léon Mougenot, employed by the firms of Caressa and Français and Léon Bernardel in Paris and by Dyke and sons in London. Established in Paris in 1928. His work is individual; the tone of his instruments powerful; golden yellow or red varnish, soft and transparent; praiseworthy workmanship and finish. One of the best repairers of fine early instruments.
An interesting Bergonzi copy, circa 1890. £695.00 stock no. WP45
1st. movement from Bach Cantabile.
An interesting lightly built instrument with some character with a Bergonzi label. In good sound condition without repairs although the varnsh is a bit funky! A bit of an ugly duckling really. It looks like it has been around the block a few times but it does lend character to the instrument and it sounds lovely! Set up with quality ebony fittings, Pro-Arte strings and supplied in an old case. The length of the back is 14.1/16 inches (35.7 cm.). This is a violin with a lovely robust sound, clear and with good projection. Something a little different!
