An early German Stainer copy, circa 1860. £395.00 stock no. WP32
Sound clip.
A Stainer copy with lots of character and a warm patina to the amber/brown colour varnish. In good sound condition, the instrument does have a couple of ancient repairs but they are minor and do not affect the tone. An unusual instrument in that it has herringbone inlay to the outside edge. The back length is: 13.15/16 inches, (35.4cm). The fittings are in ebony with a modern chinrest, the violin has just been set up with new Pro-Arte strings and is supplied in a lightweight case. It has a lovely deep sonorous sound with good depth and clarity. An interesting fiddle!
