states the following about the maker.
Villaume Gustave Eugène. Born Mirecourt 1899.
Pupil of Mougenot and Jacquent Gand. Wood, workmanship and general appearance eminently qualify this maker as highly successful in Guarnerian modelling. Oil varnish of clear yellow to dark reddish-brown.

A good clean Nicolas Bertholini violin, they are excellent intermediate grade violins with a balanced tone, sonorous base and good volume, they were always pre-dated to 1810. In excellent condition without damage or repairs, just some small varnish marks and scratches. The back length is 14.1/8 inches (35.9 cm.) Set up with good quality rosewood fittings, a new set of Pro-Arte strings and supplied in a lightweight case. The violin has a good balanced Bertholini sound that sounds great and is an easy instrument to play. I always have a few of these on the site as they are good reliable instruments!
