| An extremely fine quality instrument by a very sought after maker Emile Boulangeot. This instrument was made during the period when he collaborated with Georges Cone, Boulangeot was born in Mirecourt in 1877, he worked for a while in Paris for Gustave Bernardel and eventually became the successor to Paul Blanchards business at Lyon from 1913, he was also the principal maker to the Conservatoire at Lyons and also the Symphony Orchestras. He died in 1944. Like several of the top makers of this period he spent a long time on each instrument and in fact produced a total of 175 violins which explains their rarity. The back length is 14 inches (35.5 cm.) setup with rosewood fittings, Obligato strings and supplied in a new light weight case. In near perfect condition, just a few very minor varnish marks. This instrument has a beautiful warm rich tone, balanced and with good volume. A rare and lovely instrument! |
