| Labelled Charles Brugère and numbered 274 along with the date 1927, this instrument could possibly be a violin from the Brugère workshops, he is not a maker I am familiar with hence sold as labelled. What I will say is that this is a good quality violin, well made from good materials and in nice clean condition with just the smallest of varnish marks and some wear to the varnish on the lwer back, this I think though gives the violin some character. The back length is 14.1/16 inches (35.7 cm.) Set up with fine quality ebony and rosewood fittings, a new set of Dominant strings and supplied in a new lightweight case. This is a typical Mirecourt instrument of the period, note the black lining to the bevels of the scroll and the corners. This is a violin with a lovely classy tone with good clarity and balance. Well made and at a very reasonable price! |
