William Henley's Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers
states the following about the maker.
Vuillaume Chipot. Born Mirecourt 1847.
Married the daughter of a Parisian cobbler named by a strange coincidence Jean Babtiste Vuillaume. He immediately availed himself of attaching the name to his own, thus deceiving the public into thinking he was related to the great J.B.Vuillaume. He even went so far as to state on his labels that he was the son in law of J.B.Vuillaume. He made instruments for Collin-Mezin. Subsequently established own business, he enjoyed immense popularity for several years. Died prematurely due to dissolute habits. Workshops finally sold to Charles Drouin.
