William Henley's Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers
states the following about the maker.
Apparut, Georges. Born 1877 at Juraincourt.
Son and pupil of Leon Apparut. Worked at the Ateliers of Blanchard at Lyons, 1896 - 1899 and with Mougenot at Brussels 1900 - 1903. Succeded to the business of Charotte at Mirecourt 1925. Obtained gold medals at Nancy, Brussels, Metz, Gand and Paris. Diplomas of honour at other exhibitions. Interesting and high finished productions of thoroughly good art. Established considerable fame in France, Belgium and America, soloists having been a powerful auxiliary in propagating his name. Several French virtuosi acknowledge the brilliant tone which enables them to excite astonishment and delight from an audience!

A beautiful Buthod violin.The Jerome Thibouville-Lamy workshops acquired the Buthod brand around 1885, this subsequently became one of their top models along with the Barnabetti, they are excellent violins, well made and with good attention to detail. This example is in very clean condition, there are no repairs or damage, just some minor varnish marks. The back length is: 14.1/16 inches, (35.7cm.) Set up with high quality ebony fittings, Dominant strings and supplied in a new case. An instrument with a smooth classy tone, these violins have a good sound. Highly recommended!
