William Henley's Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers
states the following about the maker.
Apparut, Georges. Born 1877 at Juraincourt.
Son and pupil of Leon Apparut. Worked at the Ateliers of Blanchard at Lyons, 1896 - 1899 and with Mougenot at Brussels 1900 - 1903. Succeded to the business of Charotte at Mirecourt 1925. Obtained gold medals at Nancy, Brussels, Metz, Gand and Paris. Diplomas of honour at other exhibitions. Interesting and high finished productions of thoroughly good art. Established considerable fame in France, Belgium and America, soloists having been a powerful auxiliary in propagating his name. Several French virtuosi acknowledge the brilliant tone which enables them to excite astonishment and delight from an audience!

Good quality Lupot copy, circa 1900. £1,150.00 stock no. WP208
From Bach Partita in D minor.
The label is inscribed:
Nicolas Lupot Luthier rue de
Grammont ; a Paris L'an 1798

A French Lupot copy in good condition, well made from good materials by an accomplished luthier. No damage, just varnish marks and dings and a small wing crack repair. The back length is 14.3/16 inches, (36cm.), the fittings are in rosewood. Recently set up with new bridge, Pro-Arte strings and supplied in a new case. The violin has a lovely deep dark bass with good response and clarity. Produces a good sound!
