A Mirecourt violin labelled A.Grumet, circa 1920. £395.00 stock no. WP204
From Haydn Concerto in G.
An unusual Mirecourt instrument with a flower carving to the back of the scroll. This is not a maker I am familiar with and indeed the neck may not be original to the instrument but it plays very well and is in some ways similar to the Breton violins. The length of the back is 14.1/16 inches (35.7 cm.). Condition is good, there is one repaired saddle crack on the right hand side and a small wing crack repair on the left but other than this it just has minor varnish blemishes. This violin has a clear and lyrical treble tone and a good bass. An ideal instrument for folk fiddle!
