| A lovely warm violin with lots of character from a very sought after maker, these quality Collin-Mezin instruments are becoming increasingly difficult to find. In near mint condition without damage or repairs, just very minor varnish blemishes. Made from selected woods, set up with rosewood fittings (the pegs are original), Dominant strings and supplied in a new case, this example is based on the Guarneri model and it also has similarities to the Victorieux type the Collin-Mezin also made. The 30 extra indicates this to be top of the range. The length of the one piece back is 14 inches (35.6 cm.). This is a violin with a lovely sweet tone, well balanced with a clear smooth treble and a superb growl to the bass. A fine instrument for collector or player, highly recommended! |
