| A good violin from one of the most successful workshops of the period, Amédèe Couesnon made stringed instruments in Mirecourt from 1867, moved to Paris and eventually started additional workshops producing brass instruments as well as continuing to produce fine stringed instruments, he was known to have supplied several French luthiers with violins such as Bernardel and Mougenot. This example is in beautiful near mint condition, it is labelled as a Léon Bernardel, Paris violin, he would have purchased this violin from Couesnon and then inserted his own label. The back length is: 14.1/16 inches (35.7 cm.). Quality ebony fittings including the original pegs, Dominant strings and supplied in a new case. This is a nice violin with a lovely smooth tone that has a real touch of class. An excellent instrument, highly recommended! |
