Good H.Clotelle violin, circa 1900. £1,150.00 stock no. WP15
Sound clip.
H.Clotelle worked for the Laberte-Humbert workshops at Mirecourt from 1891. They are good violins in their class, this example is a bit earlier than most of them and does seem to have more character and quality. The back length is 14.1/16 inches (35.7cm.) Set up with good quality ebony fittings including the chinrest and a new set of Pro-Arte strings. The violin is supplied in a new light weight case. There is no damage or repairs, just minor varnish wear. This instrument has an excellent warm and mellow tone with a nice clear treble and good volume. A very good violin at a low price!
