Born in 1890 in Mirecourt (Vosges) France.
Amédée Dieudonné was an acomplished violin maker, he was the grandson of Dominique Benoit. He studied under Gustave Bazin and for some time was employed by the Darche firm in Brussels. He settled in Brussels in 1920. His copies of the old Italian masters won him a reputation. His own formula of varnish varied between reddish yellow and light red. All his violins are made with great attention to the finer details such as the button, scroll and sound holes. Genuine examples are usually (but not always) signed inside on the back and top plate in a mauve ink as well as being labelled.
